Clit et ratures : Well, the caption of this one is about Literature. The word is almost the same in French (Littérature), and if you put a « c » in front of it, it sounds exactly like the caption of this drawing. Why a c ? Because « clit » stands for what you know, « et » means « and », and « ratures » is used to talk about crossing-outs in a text. So the sentence means « clit and crossing-outs » but sounds quite exactly like « literature ». Now put your phone down, and a book in your hand. Or your hand in your underwear. You can even do both at the same time. ????

La lèche rebelle : Here is another one about a lock of hair, I found it while searching for last week’s post. In French, « Mèche rebelle » is an unruly lock, it can be literally translated by « rebel lock ». In this caption, « mèche » (lock of hair) was replaced by « lèche », which sounds close, and means lick. So it’s like a rebel licking 🙂

Evide-amant : The caption sounds exactly like « évidemment », which means « evidently » or « obviously ». But it is composed by two different words: « évide » means « to hollow out » or « to empty », and « amant means « lover »

L’histoire de L, C et W en est un bel (et original) exemple. C et W vivent habituellement ensemble, dans un appartement de la région parisienne. Lorsque le confinement a été annoncé, L les a rejoints chez eux pour vivre leur isolement à trois. Ce huis clos leur permet depuis de prendre soin les uns des autres dans la douce intimité d’un bain partagé ou d’une lecture sous le plaid. Courage à toutes et tous ! ?? ???? Minette aux manettes : « Minette » is a cute old-fashion word which could be the equivalent « sweetie » (the first meaning is like « pussycat »). « Être aux manettes » means to be in charge, to have control (« manettes » means « lever » or « gamepad »). Only one letter of difference, and the whole caption could be translated by something like « sweetie’s in charge »

Chantier interdit aux pudiques : In France, « chantier interdit au public » is a very common sign that can be seen on every construction site. It means that the public is not allowed to enter the area ( literally: « construction site forbidden to the public »). I would say that it’s the french equivalent of « restricted area ». For this caption, I replaced « public » by « pudique », which means prudish. And « chantier » (here, a construction site) can also mean « a mess ». So the caption sounds very close to the usual construction site warning sign, but it means something like « this mess is forbidden to the prudish people »
